Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know, explained simply and clearly.
What's the difference between ADHD Coaching and the therapy services (CBT, Behavioural Therapy)?
Coaching is non-clinical, goal-focused support for putting strategies into practice – delivered by a trained ADHD coach. CBT and Behavioural Therapy are genuine psychological therapy, delivered by a BABCP-accredited or HCPC-registered practitioner, and work on the thinking and behaviour patterns underneath the day-to-day struggle, not just the day-to-day struggle itself. Many clients use coaching and therapy alongside each other rather than choosing one.
Who actually delivers these sessions - are they qualified?
It depends on the service: coaching, Daily Living Skills, and Emotional Regulation are delivered by trained ADHD coaches or suitably experienced practitioners; CBT and Behavioural Therapy are only delivered by a BABCP-accredited CBT therapist or an HCPC-registered practitioner psychologist. Each service page states which applies, and we’ll confirm the individual practitioner’s accreditation before you book.
Do I need a formal ADHD diagnosis to access these services?
No. A screening result (ours or elsewhere) or simply a strong sense that ADHD traits are affecting your life is enough to start. Some clients book these services instead of, or while waiting for, a formal diagnosis.
Do these sessions replace or count as an ADHD diagnosis?
No. None of these six services are a diagnostic assessment. If you’re looking for a formal diagnosis, see our NHS Right to Choose and private assessment pages and get on the waitlist by booking your diagnosis.
How are sessions delivered, and how often?
All of our six services are delivered remotely by video call. Session length and frequency vary by service but are typically 50 minutes, weekly or fortnightly, except the Assessment & Planning session, which is a single longer 75-minute session. Full detail is on each service’s own page.
What does a session cost, and is there a minimum commitment?
Pricing is listed on each service page and in our overall Pricing guide. There’s no requirement to commit to a course upfront. You can book a single session and decide from there, though CBT and Behavioural Therapy tend to work best over several sessions rather than one-off.
Is what I discuss in sessions confidential?
Yes, within the limits set out in our Privacy Policy and Safeguarding page. The same safeguarding exceptions that apply to the rest of the site (for example, a disclosure suggesting serious risk to you or someone else) apply here too.
Can under-18s book any of these services?
Not currently. These six services are scoped to adults for now; 16-17s can use our young person screening pathway, but the coaching and therapy services described here aren’t yet set up or appropriately staffed for under-18s.
